My Visit With the New Riders of the Purple Sage

On July 4, 2010 I met up with one of my favorite bands, The New Riders of the Purple Sage to show them the incredible B-bender Telecasters I had made. For further pictures of just the guitars go here. I was a little nervous about showing these wonderful musicians my creations but I should not have been concerned. In short, they loved them! As a matter of fact, David Nelson, the lead guitar player, gave us a short teaching lesson on how to really use the B-bender to make music. I was fortunate enough to hear my creations being played by the master of this instrument. The entire band loved all four instruments and commented on how responsive they were and how well they played. I could not have been more pleased! After they looked and played all four guitars, I showed them the Mesa Boogie amplifier with its' new case made out of ipe (a South American hardwood) and inlaid with the NRPS' cactus and the Grateful Dead's lightning bolt. They were stunned at the workmanship!

The band will be playing Northern Virginia in July and August and it is very probable that, if you come to one of their shows, you will see and hear at least one of these very special instruments.
